    Overview

    Portugal offers two main routes:
    Schengen Visa (Type C) — short stays up to 90 days in any 180 (tourism, family, short business).
    National Visa (Type D) / Residence Permit — stays over 90 days for study, work, family, job-seeker, or certain remote-work categories. After entry on a long-stay visa you complete local registration and receive a residence card from the Portuguese immigration authority.
